As much as I wanted to get out of that place, I wasn’t going anywhere. That was not a part of the plan regardless of my well-being. I just didn’t know it at that time. There was no way these people were going to let me transfer to another place because I must be their lucky star who was going to be their guide when they are lost and make everything alright.

One night right before the Thanksgiving weekend, the GM asked me to finish a job and take care of a department that had nothing to do with mine. In order to get this job done in time for the thanksgiving weekend, I couldn’t wait for other employees knowing how slow usually they were. So I took it upon myself to get the job done in time without waiting for others. I walked to the back and got myself on a forklift to start the task on hand.

I wasn’t officially certified to get on a forklift. However, I’ve been slowly training on my own with the help of my coworker. Also, I wasn’t going all around the place with it. I simply needed to move a couple of pallets of things out of my way. While I was on a forklift, Fat Princess suddenly appeared out of nowhere like it was a set-up and screamed about how I shouldn’t be on a forklift without a certification.

Then she proceeded to write me up for some bullshit when I was doing a job that was supposed to be handled by her department. If she knew how to work a forklift, then I didn’t even have to get on a forklift. So basically, I was being written up because I was getting a job done for her department because she sucked at her job. Fat Princess never pushed carts. She never did any hard physical work. She was slow as f**k at anything pretty much except eating her snacks. She was hired on as a night manager off the jump and I was being written up for her laziness and poor work ethic. And I said to myself,

‘Now they are starting with this write ups to block my transfers. Here we go again.’

Now that I had a strong feeling of where this was going, I had to approach this situation differently. Not even knowing that it was going to be complete waste of my time, I contacted the regional VP to force my transfer to another location. The VP told me that he couldn’t do anything about my transfer which was a total bullshit. However, in the process, I did find out about what really happened with the space cadet’s theft report to the corporate HQ.

The GM and these managers involved cooked up a story and reported that it was Boston George who initiated an investigation all on his own to discover that the space cadet was stealing from the company. I was not mentioned at all, and they cooked up a story to make sure they didn’t look too bad in front of their peers, superiors and the corporate HQ.

I was not looking for a credit or anything like that, but it was interesting to see how far these guys would go to cover things up. I also found out that some of these managers were blaming me for the theft because if I didn’t step down from my previous position, the theft would’ve never happened to that amount. It was an interesting and flawed logic. They didn’t want to look themselves in the mirror and blame their own laziness and stupidities.

One day, Fat Princess walked into the office. Then she threw down her building keys and told the GM that she couldn’t handle the job and she was going to resign. She was a night manager and it was too much for her. I don’t know if she cried and threw a tamper tantrum. She then somehow eventually got promoted to a senior manager sitting in the office for the most part just like that as a new hire. In my opinion, the GM made a mistake by promoting her. It showed a lot about her since this location was not even that busy and she couldn’t even handle it. It wasn’t shocking since managing a department jewelry store was completely different from this kind of business and the scale of operation.

When I heard about this, I just wanted to be supportive. So I told her that I believed in her to do her job and needed as a night manager. Then she freaked out for no reason talking about I was being weird and shit to others in the building. I was like OK, whatever.
