Dedicated to my mother, father, grandmother & RJ
My father approached me from behind to look and read what I was typing on my laptop. I was sitting at a desk trying to write something just like my father decades ago. I was somehow able to write a paragraph after thinking for awhile. After a moment of silence, my father said,
“It sucks.”
What a way to encourage or motivate! I immediately stopped writing. I didn’t stop writing because I was discouraged by my own father. My father was right. It really sucked. I was wasting my time writing a story that wasn’t coming from my own voice and style. I was trying to write and express like somebody else instead of finding and developing my own. Therefore, I stopped writing completely and spent rest of my time in South Korea revisiting and exploring before returning to the USA.
Towards the end of my time in a Fortune 100 corporation, I used up all my vacation and sick days I have saved up right before I resigned. I had a new manager who transferred from another location from NY approached and suggested me that I should call a 1-800 mental health hot line provided by the company. This guy thought I was going through some kind of mental crisis not really knowing what really happened.
Maybe to a certain degree, that workplace drove me crazy due to so many issues with so many employees. However, I was not having a mental crisis. I just simply decided to visit my father in South Korea for a couple of weeks right before my resignation date. I didn’t necessarily went to South Korea for a vacation before I resigned from a company known to be one of the best to work for in the USA. I had to be there because I’ve been living with a heavy heart with pain, sorrow and anger while I was working and watching everything unfold during my time with this company.
When I first started to work at this Fortune 100 corporation, I truly believed that I was working for one of the best companies which treats their employees right with solid operations and etc. At that time, I made a decision that this company was worth my time for a long term career situation based on a few factors such as pay and the trajectory of growth, sustainability and consumer trends. During my 90 days probationary period after being hired as a limited part time employee, my grandmother passed away in South Korea. This happened not long after my close friend’s sudden funeral and I was heavily emotionally devastated.
In South Korea’s culture, it is a tradition to be present at your family funerals. Unfortunately, I didn’t go because I was only allowed 2 or 3 days for my grievance leave. 2 or 3 days were not enough since it takes a day to fly from North America to South Korea. Normally, I would’ve gone to the funeral if I was working at a dead end job. However, I really believed that this company was special and different from other places. So I stayed and finished my 90 days probationary period not knowing what was waiting to happen down the road in the end. And after everything and 5 years of working for this company, it only made sense that I finally visited my grandmother’s grave, paid my respect and asked her for forgiveness.
Upon my return to the USA, almost everyone from my mother to strangers couldn’t understand why I would resign from a company known to be one of the best workplaces in North America. And because the majority of employees in the company are lifers until their retirement, people constantly asked me why I would resign after 5 or 6 years of working and reaching the top pay scale. And because I’m tired to talking about the same thing repeatedly, I finally decided to share my story to explain why I resigned and others couldn’t while also exploring and identifying problems or issues of capitalism, toxic corporate culture/politics and DEI.
What is the core problem at the heart of capitalism? It is reducing human beings to just nothing but numbers on a ledger. For that reason alone, human lives could be looked as cheap or nothing to some in this world. Also, it creates an environment or society of dog eat dog world where people will lie, cheat and steal from others to enrich or save themselves. Method Man of Wu-Tang Clan once said – “Behind every fortune there’s a crime.” Maybe capitalism is the reason why there are wars, drugs, guns, gangs, terrorists, crimes, corruptions and etc. Is communism the answer then? Probably not. One could ask that question to someone who lives or lived in Russia, China, North Korea and etc.
Over the years and throughout many generations, we have collectively created and nurtured a society in America where 22 years old young man can’t just live a simple life and have fun carefree anymore. Now they have to worry and care about money, job and politics like never before while more and more are becoming anti-social in real world and being brainwashed by media machines, social medias, influencers and alike. It is really sad to see that we are living in the USA where a young man couldn’t just have gay sex with his transgender boyfriend in peace while living with his parents. Now they have to get involved in politics and go around killing people for their unchallenged personal and political views or beliefs based on their lack of life and world experiences. Some Americans say that people are spreading evil and hate with a speech or words in the USA meanwhile there are bombs being dropped in Ukraine and Gaza, as of 2025, on top of devastating living conditions with a shortage of resources and food.
With stagnant wages married with the rising cost of living, inflations, bankruptcies and mass layoffs, there will be scams and shady characters of all sorts more than ever out in this world. Whether you are on the street hustling or working for a big corporation or government agency, you will encounter all kinds of situations and people without moral values and integrity who also sold and lost their souls in the name of almighty dollar.
And due to the human nature and greed, people will try to jack you on the street and online by every second and minute. If not on the street and online, people will backstab and step on others in order to just survive or climb up the corporate ladder of social and financial status. Unless you identify and be aware of these shady individuals and also know how to protect yourself, you are going to be a victim of their schemes and end up wasting your valuable time, energy and money.
Especially in corporate settings, larger the organization, most often incompetent and lazy employees will do everything possible to keep their jobs or climb up the promotion ladder. They don’t resign or quit because even the dumbest and the laziest dirtbags know and understand that they need money to pay their bills and eat. And in so many occasions, they are also not the brightest when it comes to many aspects of operating a business. This is one of many reasons why big corporations without a solid business model with solid operations and unwavering customer loyalty eventually dissolve when they supposedly have all the right people in the right positions doing the right things.
Also, when the wrong individuals get promoted with a new job title and more money, they usually become even dumber than before blinded by the position of power and money and can’t think to see beyond eating and paying their bills. Many of them don’t really care about others and they think that having a lot of money or being a manager or CEO will solve everything in this world that we live in. Hypothetically, after taking over the USA via a war, if I was a soldier for a communist country, and somebody came up to me offering money and told me that he/she was a billionaire CEO of a tech company, I would tell that person without any hesitation,
“Shut your ass up and get back in line to the gas chamber.”
Via Hustlenometry – Wholesale Rape, I share a story of my time in a multinational Fortune 100 corporation after starting from the bottom as a homeless person sleeping in my car briefly. This invaluable story could assist anyone from all generations and genders who is looking to work in a big corporate settings in general. In this story based on first hand account and reliable sources, you will find out how 2 employees were able to fool the management to pull 2 different heists to steal from the company. Also, you will find out about the love hexagon that killed the department productivity and the grand plan of a lazy gold digger a.k.a. waste of payroll for her job security. And for bonus, you will be able to understand why I wouldn’t want to work closely with too many different generations of employees in the mix.
This story is for anyone who wants to learn how to avoid pitfalls and understand how corporate politics actually work. Moreover, this is a story that parents with daughters, wives with their husbands in the management and all women must read before working for any company. Why? Because it could happen to anybody.
