Dedicated to my mother, father, grandmother & RJ My father approached me from behind to look and read what I was typing on my laptop. I was sitting at a desk trying to write something just like my father decades ago. I was somehow able to write a paragraph after thinking for awhile. After a moment of silence, my father said, “It sucks.” What a way to encourage or motivate! I immediately stopped writing. I didn’t stop writing because I was discouraged by my own father. My father was right. It really sucked. I was wasting my time writing a story that wasn’t coming from my own voice and style. I was trying to write and express like somebody else instead of finding and developing my own. Therefore, I stopped writing completely and spent rest of my time in South Korea revisiting and exploring before returning to the USA. Towards […]
Before I begin to tell this story, I would like to set the record straight. During the course of this story, it is possible for you to ask who am I to talk or criticize somebody when I was just a low hourly employee who was never a part of the management. This is why I’m going to explain who I was while working for this Fortune 100 behemoth. Without exaggerating, I was an employee who was willing to put money and the job on the line to challenge or compete other employees including managers to see who could do better when it came to my job/work. Out of 100s or 1000s of employees I have seen and worked with in the past from this corporation, I only met one person who could do better than me in one part of the operation. He was a Polish kid from NJ […]
It was finally the day of grand opening. My excitement for working at this new location died that same day. After watching my co-workers including supervisors and managers work, I saw the sign of unnecessary stress and headaches to come. I was not being pessimistic. Based on what I know and my experiences from other places, it was not difficult to see there will be some serious turbulence on this flight to the destination. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I knew it was going to be a shit show. That day, even before the first working day was over, I was already thinking about my transfer request in near future. While I was watching my co-workers in action and processing my thoughts, the corporate auditor walked over and stood next to me while he was on the phone with another corporate auditor from the HQ. He said […]
There were many problems from the jump. Thanks to my position and the job, I was able to see problems of many departments. Everybody was complaining and bitching about someone or something. It was a tough situation for me personally because I was able to see who were causing issues and what they were doing to make my job even more difficult due to their laziness or stupidity. Because of that, it was somewhat difficult to interact with many employees including managers and supervisors knowing how incompetent or mentally challenged some of these people were. Employees who transferred from another location would blame the management and new hires for many issues. While they did have valid points to some degrees, but many of them were also the problem in my eyes because my old building wouldn’t have hired and kept them. They wouldn’t be able to handle the volume on […]
It finally got to the point where I started to not wanting to go to work due to this working environment. Other employees who transferred from other locations were thinking about leaving one by one to other locations. I also began to think about transferring to another location. While my supervisor from Miami was a good worker, she was way too soft on these 3 Gen Z female employees and others. That was one of many reasons why the department was not operating efficiently and always lacking manpower even though we had enough employees in the department. All of a sudden, my department got so much worse out of nowhere without any explanation. My workload increased drastically without support as usual. I just couldn’t understand what was happening. Then, my department supervisor and manager were nowhere to be found for awhile. I just thought they were taking vacations, but that […]
It was a weird vibe working with some of these managers beefing with each other over my supervisor. I couldn’t really careless about their issues. However, I did feel bad for my supervisor because the dynamic of relationships between her and almost all employees in the building changed drastically and quickly. Suddenly, nobody wanted to talk to her and she was like an outcast. Many of these employees were scared to be seen with her for whatever reasons they had. I personally didn’t give a shit and I had no problem talking to her. I never asked her about what happened with her and others. What was the point? Eventually, after awhile, my supervisor was being relocated back to Miami. I don’t personally know exactly what went down after the rape incident, but I was told that my supervisor made a deal with the company to drop the rape charge […]
When I just thought it couldn’t get any worse, sure and soon enough, we were about to find out one of the most dumbest heist I’ve ever seen in my life. This event revoked work credentials of many managers, senior or junior, in my mind. Many of them were no longer qualified to be my supervisor or manager regardless of the chain of command and years of service. I was working as usual doing my rounds one morning. While doing my work, I saw the space cadet working on something in another area. Then the next shift with the space cadet, it was the same thing again. After she left the area of what she was working on, I walked over to that area to understand why she was working on something in that area. I couldn’t figure it out and I went back to my work as usual. And […]
